The latest SYNKO has updates to the Labour Force data to June 2025 and Internet Vacancy Index to June 2025
This is a bit of a briefer update than usual but you can look at the data updates here and here.
The key highlights of the labour force data are included in the table below.
Job creation stalled over the month and the number of unemployed people rose sharply leading to the unemployment rate reaching 4.3%, the highest it has been since November 21.
The underemployment rate also shifted higher awhile the participation rate rose. The number of hours worked recorded a sharp fall over the month.
This will be interesting to monitor over the coming months as the momentum in the labour market has definitely slowed over recent months.
On the flip-side, the number of jobs advertised as vacant on the internet rose 1.9% over the month but was still -6.7% over the year.
